Nashville Parks foundation

There are 178 parks and 27 Community Centers in the Nashville Metro Parks system.

Nashville Parks Foundation, founded in 2015, is Metro Parks’ partner in ensuring our city’s park system continues to thrive and grow with the needs of the city.

The foundation focuses on countywide equitable support with an eye toward public funding gaps. Striving to maximize the public benefit of Nashville’s spectacular park system and community centers, we work through creative collaboration and innovative partnerships.

Oasis bike workshop

Founded in 2009, the Oasis Bike Workshop is a year round earn-a-bike program that empowers Nashville's young people with alternative transportation. Since it's inception, over 1500 young people have rolled out the door on bikes that THEY rebuilt and customized.
The workshop has grown into a nationally recognized program and community effort that is now supported by much of Nashville's cycling community, helping us to serve over 120 young people each year. Through this free, volunteer-powered program, youth participate in weekly workshops in which they custom build their own bicycle from the frame up, and are trained in bicycle safety and maintenance. Upon completion of the workshop, each participant rides away with their own bicycle, as well as a new helmet, lock, lights, toolkit and a bit of grease under their fingernails as proof of their new skill set. This empowers them as advocates for alternative transportation, connects them to their city and promotes safe cycling in their communities as they use their new skills to help Empower. Rebuild. Ride On.
